The Japanese Maple is a small tree standing only 20-25 feet high and 20 feet wide. It's outstanding foliage is a somber red and contrasts nicely with the bark. The tree also has a striking scarlet fall color.

Botanical name:Prunus cerasifera 'Krauter Vesuvius'

The 'Krauter Vesuvius' is a smaller growing, flowering plum that grows to 18' high by 12' wide. Its leaves are purple-black throughout the growing season, and the flowers have a light pink color.

This clumping evergreen iris bears tall, narrow leaves to 30" tall and white flowers marked purple in the center on stalks to 3' tall. This variety has stiffer, darker foiliage than the bicolor form. Botanical name:Papaver nudicaule

This Iceland Poppy produces leaves that are divided with flowers appearing on stems 1-2' high. These flowers are cup-shaped to 3" across, and come in colors of yellow, orange, salmon, rose, pink and cream.

Dry creekbed and catch basin give water a chance to percolate into the soil before being passed out to the street. Provide a deep rock hole before leading out to the street to catch water.
